Tour description

The Highland Packrafting Expedition is one of Scotland’s most pioneering and untamed adventures, combining trekking and packrafting into a single immersive experience. Over 11 days, participants will journey across 130 kilometers with 3,000 meters of elevation gain, traversing rugged mountains, pristine lochs, and even stretches of open sea.

This expedition is not only a test of endurance but also a deep immersion into Scottish history and wilderness. Sections of the journey follow the legendary Cape Wrath Trail, Britain’s toughest long-distance trek, and include the ascent of iconic Munros. Along the way, you’ll encounter rich cultural heritage, stunning landscapes, and, with luck, wildlife, from golden eagles to playful otters and perhaps even seals and dolphins.

What to expect

  • Historical Immersion: Paddle beneath Castle Tioram and traverse ancient clan territories.
  • Wild Camping: Sleep on white-sand beaches and remote islands under the stars.
  • Iconic Peaks & landscapes: Conquer Scottish Munros with sweeping panoramic views and discover ancient landscapes shaped over millions of years.
  • Cape Wrath Trail: Experience sections of Britain’s most challenging trek.
  • Lock and open sea crossings:  Paddle across tranquil lochs and face the Atlantic’s open waters.

Castle Tioram & First Paddle

After breakfast, a private transfer takes us to the trailhead where the journey truly begins. We hike across coastal paths until reaching the haunting ruins of Castle Tioram. Here, we inflate our packrafts for the first time and begin our adventure on the water.
We’ll paddle to a small inhabited island, cross it on foot, then return to the water to reach a remote white-sand beach—our first wild campsite beneath the Highland sky.
